LONDON, Jul 28, 2003 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- OneSource Information Services, Inc. (NASDAQ: ONES), a leading provider of business information solutions, today announced it has extended its support for eXtensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL) through the OneSource(R) AppLink(SM) software development kit (SDK) with financial data from over 750,000 UK and European companies. Using XBRL via the AppLink SDK, OneSource customers can integrate updated, fielded financial data on UK and European companies from the OneSource Enhanced Information Warehouse into standard business and custom financial applications. OneSource already provides access to an additional 28,000 global public companies'' financial data via XBRL, a standard for communicating financial data based on XML.
With support for XBRL through the AppLink SDK, OneSource customers can configure applications to request individual financial variables for direct analysis from a set of over 100 standard financial variables with six years of history. Several standard reports are also available for query directly using XBRL, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, income statements, statements of cash flows, and ratio reports.
"OneSource is committed to delivering the technology, services and support our customers need to maximize productivity from both external and internal business information," said Joe Tarragano, product marketing director for OneSource. "By extending the XBRL capabilities of the AppLink SDK, we are continuing this commitment with an open, flexible way to integrate and deliver specific financial information into applications that are relevant to the user. Organizations that automate the gathering of financial data spend more time focused on servicing customers, and have a distinct competitive advantage in engaging new clients."
The AppLink SDK enables organizations to support critical decision-making processes by placing essential financial information within a company''s portal or customer relationship management (CRM) system, as well as into custom applications such as comparables models, return on investment (ROI) models, and financial analysis tools. The AppLink SDK can also be used to integrate other information from the OneSource Enhanced Information Warehouse into these applications, including news, corporate profiles, executive biographies and comprehensive industry profiles.
The UK and European data provided to OneSource includes financial reports from D&B. The UK and European reports are mapped from up to 1600 data items to just over 100 standard variables, allowing applications to easily compare companies in a consistent format.
Providing a common platform for critical business reporting processes, XBRL improves the reliability and ease of communicating financial data among internal and external users. More information on XBRL can be found at http://www.xbrl.org. OneSource has taken a leadership position by being the first provider of Web Services for XBRL financial reports and is a member of XBRL International, a consortium of over 200 companies and agencies promoting and supporting the adoption of XBRL worldwide.
