Founded in 1907, California College of the Arts is a regionally accredited, independent school of art and design in the western United States. The college offers a wide range of arts and architecture courses, and offers bachelor of fine arts, arts and architecture, and master of fine arts, arts and architecture degrees. In addition, its curriculum includes design and writing, and it offers critical studies programs, which include courses in cultural history, social science, philosophy, mathematics, science and interdisciplinary methods of knowledge. It operates from two campuses in California, including the San Francisco campus that provides graduate programs and undergraduate programs in architecture and design. Its Oakland campus has studios, residence halls, and the Center for Art and Public Life.
