Albany Area Primary Health Care is a nonprofit corporation established in 1979 to provide access to quality health care for people in several southwest Georgia communities. The offices of the corporation were organized by people from Baker, Calhoun, Dougherty, Lee, and Terrell counties in Georgia, who saw a need for medical services in their areas. The offices are now managed by a board of citizens from the areas they serve. Staffed by highly trained professionals, the offices are equipped to handle almost any medical problem, and open to the general public, adults and children, regardless of residence or income. The primary care services include the medical specialties of family practice, general internal medicine and general pediatrics. In addition, the clinic physicians develop partnerships with patients in the context of family and community. As the largest primary physician practice in southwest Georgia, AAPHC provides health care services to more than 24,000 patients and over 100,000 office visits per year. Its rural model, specializing in HIV management, has earned national recognition, and the clinic takes great pride in its accreditation by the Association for Ambulatory Health Care and the Joint Commission on Accreditation for Healthcare Organizations. ...
