Globe Specialty Metals, Inc. (GSM) is a producer of silicon metal and silicon-based alloys, with approximately 156,400 metric tons of silicon metal capacity and 72,800 metric tons of silicon-based alloys capacity. Silicon metal, the Company’s principal product, is used as a primary raw material in making silicone compounds, aluminum and polysilicon. The Company’s silicon-based alloys are used as raw materials in making steel and ductile iron. Its products are produced in four principal operating facilities located in the United States, Brazil and Argentina. Additionally, it operates facilities in Poland and China.
