VCU Health System, located in Richmond, Va., is an academic medical center in central Virginia. The hospital has more than 770 licensed beds, and comprises over 200 specialty areas. It has multidisciplinary centers for cancer, cardiology, neurosurgery, and transplantation. In addition, it diagnoses and treats chest pain and strokes, organ transplant, head and spinal cord trauma, burns and wounds, and neonatal intensive care. The center is involved in genetic research, as well as cancer research, treatment and rehabilitation. Other services include orthopedics, respiratory disorders, digestive tract, rehabilitation and gynecology. The academics section is located on two campuses. VCU enrolls more than 27,000 students in over 160 undergraduate, graduate, professional, doctoral and postgraduate certificate degree programs in 11 schools and one college. ... (More)
